Reporting an Absence

If your child is sick or unable to come to school:

  • Please telephone 0115 9667930 and leave a message on the answerphone as early as possible stating your child’s name, class and reason for absence. 
  • Alternatively email office@arnoldmill.notts.sch.uk
  • If you are aware that your child is going to be absent due to medical appointments or any other reason, please inform the office in advance. 

Types of Absence

There are two types of absence:

AUTHORISED (where school approves pupil absence)

· Acceptable reasons for absence are:

· Genuine illness

· Medicals that cannot be made outside of school hours

· A day set aside for religious observance

UNAUTHORISED (where school will not approve absence):

· Headache

· Hair appointment

· Illness of a family member

· Birthday

· Shopping

· Overslept

· Visiting friends/relatives

· Holiday (unless exceptional circumstances)

· Car problems
